Inter and AC Milan played out a cracker of a Derby della Madonnina at the San Siro last night, and the moment that really showcased what the passionate fixture is all about was Andre Silva’s incredible diving head tackle.
The Portugal striker, who signed for Milan for €38 million from Porto in the summer, led the line for Vincenzo Montella’s side in the five-goal thriller last night.
He wasn’t able to add to his six goals in a Rossoneri shirt, and it was his opposite number Mauro Icardi, who stole the show with a sublime hat-trick to give Inter the win.
But at least he displayed the following game-changing tackle:
In the 77th minute, with the score at 2-1, Silva was dispossessed and after stumbling to the foor, elected to make the most unorthodox of orthodox challenges. Roberto Gagliardini was advancing with the ball, and the 21-year old threw his head at his leg to bring him down, resulting in an utterly brilliant moment. The slow-motion footage is well on point.
Somehow, Silva wasn’t one of the players to be cautioned in the game, despite pulling off the most cynical of fouls.
